Final images Model 2

Bloody Mary

This is the final outcome for my bloody Mary design. I feel thrilled with the outcome as I feel the image really captures the concept behind them. She's an evil demon Queen that steals the beauty of any girl that calls upon her. The demon eyes worked really well in adding something subtlety disturbing to the image. I took inspiration from Rihanna's music video 'Disturbia' and replicated the painted witchy fingers on my model.

Final Images for Model 1

I was really pleased with the final outcome of the bloody Mary victim design. I went with the straight messy hair, to give my model a ruffled sexy look. To style my model she wore a leather jacket backwards to create a Tudor-essence to the look with the high collar. The arrangement of studs on each shoulder also worked really well with fitting in with the Gothic theme. I envisage these images being in a Marylin Manson video or other metal videos similar to that style.

Model 2 (Bloody Mary)

This is my model choice for my interpretation of Bloody Mary. I chose this model as she has quirky, striking looks that fits well for my design of Bloody Mary.

Face Chart for Bloody Mary

I have designed the make-up for bloody Mary using quite harsh lines for the eye make-up a different version of the very popular trend of smoky eyes. Contouring the face with darker shades creates a more strong, skeleton like shape making her seem more evil.

Model 1 (Bloody Mary Victim)

This is my model choice for my 'Victim Look'. I chose her as a model for this look as she is naturally pretty and will wear the make-up look well. She has long hair which will work best for the hairstyle I want. She also has a nose piercing and dark routes which I think will fit in well with the 'Gothic theme'

The design for this look is to make the make-up runny, smudged as if the model had been crying. The dark make-up streaks and gloss over them will give this effect. I've also smudged the mascara over the top and bottom of the eyes to make it look as if the it had been ruined by tears. I'll keep the lips plain as I want the main focus of this look to be on the eyes.

A few rough sketches!

Attacked!

For my final images of my victim I want her to have subtle scratches on her face to show that bloody Mary has attacked her. Although I only want to keep it subtle as the concept behind the images is that Bloody Mary is stealing her beauty rather than ruining it. To do this I'll use a stipple sponge to create light scratches on my models face.

My Victim - Crying eyes.

For my interpretation of my Bloody Mary victim I want her to have messy, smudged make-up due to tears streaming down her face. I gained inspiration for this look from Beyonces' video 'Why dont you love me' (shown below) where her beautiful make-up has been smudged yet she still manages to look stunning!

Below are the testing I've done for this make-up look

Gothic Crowns

To make it more apparent that my interpretation of Bloody Mary is that she is a Queen I want my model to wear a Gothic crown. I've looked at a number of different crowns but found one in particular that I thought was perfect on a fancy-dress website

This one >

Fairy-tale Evil Queens (main inspiration!)

Gothic fairy-tale queens are a huge subject of inspiration for my final bloody Mary look. They always have a 'gothy' essence to them and are always beautifully made up. To gain as much  inspiration as I could I watched Snow-white and the Huntsman as well as the original Walt Disney snow-white cartoon version.

I think its a great concept in the film how the evil Queen Ravenna  has an obsession with staying youthful and beautiful. I want to take that concept and apply it to my final images. My version of bloody Mary has that fixation with staying beautiful and steals the beauty of any girl that calls for her in the mirror.

My Bloody Mary

Mary Tudor Queen of Scots was the original Bloody Mary. I have decided that I want to do a modern Gothic, demonic version of Queen Mary Tudor.

For my final image of bloody Mary I want it to be beautiful yet have something alarming and disturbing about it...

Blacked out eyes

Blacked out eyes have a strong link to the supernatural. Many films, tv shows and images use this effect to make people look demonic. This is one thing I think would look great on my Bloody Mary as they are really effective. It's not something that's too in your face but has a chilling, haunting look about them.

Testing...

This look is inspired by the Sadako and Ring films. This look perhaps could be a start for my victim of Bloody Mary. I want her to look Gothic yet glam at the same time. I used Illamasqua white foundation to create the porcelain pale skin and contoured the cheeks with grey/black tones to give a skeleton essence to the look. To finish off I did a black lip, keeping within the Gothic theme.

Hands and fingers!

For my final Bloody Mary final look I want to do something more than just a face make-up. I've always loved how Rihannas fingernails and fingers are painted in her disturbia video from 2008. I would love to be able to replicate this look on my model.

Inspirational Music Artists ...

Marylin Manson

Marylin Mansons music is quite hard to pin point and that's what I love about it. It's often described as glam-rock, nu-metal, industrial and punk. I wouldn't say Marylin Manson is 'heavy metal' as such but it has quite hardcore element to it. Overall, it's amazing music and he experiments with a lot of genres.

His image is equally as shocking as his music! He's rarely seen without his full face of Gothic, glam make-up. His style could be described as Gothic and so I feel as an artist he is very fitting to this project. His music videos are wacky, bizarre and very out there but also very thought provoking.

The Victim

For one of my looks I want to do the victim of Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary has been said to have done many of horrific things to her victims that call upon her! For my victim I want her to be a modern version of the classic doomed golden girls in horror films, quite like Janet Leigh in Psycho. Even when she's getting brutally murdered in the shower she still looks beautiful. That's what I want for my 'victim look' I want it to be a stunning image even though she's been attacked by the evil Bloody Mary.

Psycho!

After seeing these images I decided to watch American suspense/horror Psycho, the inspiration for Blonds' horror fashion show...

I love that the film is in black and white and I also love black and white photography. The absence of colours makes for more of an intense watch. The black and white takes away the 'distraction' of colour. The viewers eye concentrates on the subject itself. Tones, shapes, textures, light play, shadows and depth of field all become more apparent when the element of colour is removed. Each tone in the spectrum competes for our view so removing them all leaves only the core subject to be analysed. More subtle elements of the shot become readily apparent creating their own drama.

Blood is the new black at this deranged horror-themed fashion show...

I stumbled across this website whilst doing research and found it a really interesting take on horror films that took place at New York fashion week. The Blonds' 2012 fall line was especially Psycho. It was also a bit of The Shining and more than a dash of asylum-chic. It looked like a fun, if utterly demented show.
David and Philip Blond took their inspiration from Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock.

Here's a few images from the show that I thought were wicked!!
